Job Seekers: Is Your Resume Summary Letting You Down? #resumetips In this recent blog post, I discuss 4 common mistakes that could be sabotaging your resume summary: 1. Not having one at all. 2. Writing one that's too long. 3. Keeping it vague instead of specific. 4. Using past tense instead of future focused language. The key is to make an impact in the 6 seconds hiring managers spend glancing at your resume. Think of 3 words that describe you professionally and relate them directly to the roles you’re pursuing. Crafting a strong summary takes effort but is essential to getting noticed. Apply the tips in this post to showcase your fit and stand out from the pack. What have been your challenges or wins with resume summaries? Share your insights below!

#careersandbeers doesn’t typically participate in #socialsaturday, but it’s May 4 and we make exceptions for this special day. Especially when you’re actually on Batuu. Why is it special? Because 3 years ago The Force was with me and I became a full time small business owner, #resumewriter, and #careercoach. But this journey is about you, so just know that quality #jobapplications are The First Order of your job search to avoid any Resistance. Spamming applications without any semblance of balance to the job description will get your application rejected quicker than Luke Skywalker turned away from the dark side. #maythefourthbewithyou as you embark on your job search journey!

Happy Monday! As we kick off the week, we are sharing the wisdom from Post Up Careers founder Franklin Buchanan on resume writing tips. Your resume is the first impression you get with most job opportunites. Much like a promotion board, it all starts out on paper with who you are and what you've done. #resume #themvf #transitioningmilitary #military #usmc #resumewritingtips #veterans #hirevets

Writing a #resume can be....tense. Make sure you're paying attention to past and present tense on your resume. For your current role descriptor, use present tense. ✅ "Develop sales campaigns....." ❌ "Developed sales campaigns...." Accomplishments you've had in your current role can be put in past tense. ✅ "Redesigned sales processes...." Your previous roles should all be past tense. #resumewritingtips #resumetip

Congratulations to Ben Read for winning this contest! Check out Ben's resume bullet for Topgolf below. "Orchestrated the explosive growth of Topgolf, expanding from a visionary idea to 70+ global venues, engaging 20 million annual visitors with a fusion of golf and technology. Spearheaded the adoption of a cutting-edge tech stack, including RFID ball tracking and digital scoreboards, while collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, and operations teams to redefine entertainment and sports hospitality." What we liked the most about this is the utilization of metrics in the first sentence. That hooked us quickly and kept us engaged for the second, which is really a second bullet point all its own. Thank you to everyone that participated, your bullets were really good and it was a tough choice!
Want to win this hat that Franklin Buchanan picked up this year at The Masters? Contest Rules: 1. Write a #resume bullet point in the comments about the founding and growth of Topgolf (Wikipedia page link in comments). 2. Make sure you like this post and are following this page. 3. The contest will last the duration of The Masters, so barring any future weather issues, the winner will be selected on Monday, April 15. 4. Have fun with this - hence the Wiki link in the comments! #resumewriting #resumewritingservices
